We recently hiked one of our favorite trails in Franconia, Bridal Veil Falls. It is a fairly easy hike, fairly minimal effort that leads to a spectacular waterfall. It is approximately 2.5 miles up to the falls. The terrain does get more challenging the closer you get to the falls, yet it is an enjoyable and good pick for the kids.
My 7 year old daughter Ella Kate went and enjoyed getting her feet wet and playing with the rocks.
I grabbed my 5 pound weight and used it for balance and to tone up my arms during the way up. A walking stick is an essential and useful tool for a hike on this type of terrain. Particularly useful in rainy weather to help guide and keep you centered. Unfortunately I had left mine at home!
I did take a fall on a slippery rock, on our way out and did take a fall. Thankfully I did not turn my ankle, and somehow managed to land mostly on my elbow. I know how lucky I was, just had some minor bruising and a bit sore over the next week.
Have a great time with this trail, you will find it on Coppermine Road in Franconia, parking is off the road and marked. Bring lots of bug spray!
